People with Buildings

The fact that there are two people in this photograph helps emphasize the width of the gazebo (?) and the patch of "vegetation" within. The gazebo itself appears larger and less monotonous as the other white buildings behind it and is given context (we know it is an eating or sitting area of some sort) by the person sitting at the bench. The location is also further emphasized through the use of benches and bright-colored, contrasting trashcans.

By having a person at the end of this pathway, the viewer is given a sense of the scale of its vastness length, width, and height-wise. Since the person is far away from the camera and appears small, the picture is also given a "sense of depth." The fact that the person is a student also helps emphasize and "give context" to the location of this pathway (in a school) along with the desks at the end that "provide information" on the location.
